How the Spotify Royalties Calculator works

This Spotify royalties calculator multiplies your monthly streams by a typical payout per 1,000 streams for the region your listeners are in, then applies your share after your distributor or label.

Spotify does not pay a fixed amount per stream. It shares a part of its subscription and advertising revenue with rights holders, based on how much of the total listening your music represents in each country. That is why a stream from a Premium listener in the UK is worth more than a stream from a free listener in a market with cheaper subscriptions.

In early 2026, rights holders earned roughly $4.43 per 1,000 streams in the US and around $3.63 per 1,000 worldwide on average. The calculator converts those figures into pounds and shows a range rather than one exact number, because your real payout depends on your listeners' countries, how many of them pay for Premium, and your contract.

What does "your share" mean?

The payout is made to the rights holder, usually your distributor or label, not directly to you. If you use a distributor with a yearly fee and keep 100% of your royalties, enter 100. If your distributor takes a commission or you are signed to a label, enter the percentage you actually receive. Split the result again if you share the track with collaborators.

The 1,000-stream rule

Since April 2024, a track has to reach at least 1,000 streams in the previous 12 months before Spotify pays recorded royalties on it. Tracks below that line earn nothing, so it pays to focus your promotion on fewer releases and push each one past the threshold.

How to earn more from Spotify

More streams from more listeners is the only lever you fully control. Release regularly, pitch every song to Spotify's editors through Spotify for Artists, and ask fans to save and follow so the algorithm picks your music up for Release Radar and Discover Weekly. Our guides to Spotify monthly listeners and how to get more Spotify streams cover this step by step.

A profile that already looks established also converts more first-time listeners into fans. If you want a starting push, you can add Spotify plays, monthly listeners or followers, delivered gradually.
