Which Link Do You Need? Profile, Post and Video Links Explained

By Oliver Hayes · Updated · 6 min read

Short answer: For followers, subscribers or members you need the link to your profile, channel or server. For likes, views, comments or shares you need the link to the specific post or video. On almost every platform the quickest way is the Share button followed by Copy link, or copying the address bar on a computer; then check the link opens publicly in a private browser window.

The link is the only thing a growth service needs to deliver an order, so getting it right matters more than anything else you enter. This guide shows which type of link each service needs and how to copy it on 13 platforms, then covers the mistakes that most often hold up delivery.

Profile link or post link: which one do you need?

The rule is simple: the link should point to the thing you want to grow.

  • Profile, channel or page link: followers, subscribers, page likes, members and live viewers, which all belong to the account or channel as a whole.
  • Post, video or track link: likes, views, comments, shares, saves, plays and reposts, which belong to one piece of content.
  • Playlist link: playlist followers on Spotify, which belong to a playlist rather than to you as an artist.
  • Invite link: Discord members, because a server has no public profile page.

Each order is delivered to a single link, so if you want engagement on three posts, place three orders.

The table gives the shape of each link and the usual way to copy it. App menus change from time to time, but the Share then Copy link route has stayed consistent on most apps.

Instagram

On the app, open your profile, tap Share profile and choose Copy link. For a client’s or friend’s profile, open it, tap the three-dot menu and choose Copy profile URL. You can also type instagram.com/ followed by the username.

YouTube

Channels can have several addresses: a handle link (youtube.com/@name), a channel ID link (youtube.com/channel/ followed by a long code) and, for older channels, custom or username links. All of them lead to the same channel. To find your handle link, sign in to YouTube Studio and go to Customisation, then Basic info. Don’t use a link that starts studio.youtube.com, because only you can open it.

Spotify

On a phone, open the song, album, artist or playlist, tap the three-dot icon, then Share and copy the link. On a computer, right-click the item or use the three-dot icon, then Share and Copy Link. Use the track link for plays and saves, and the artist or playlist link for followers.

Discord

Hover over a channel in your server, choose Create Invite and copy the link. By default an invite lasts seven days, so open Edit Invite Link, choose the longest expiry available to you and set the maximum number of uses to No limit before generating a fresh link. An invite that expires mid-delivery will stop an order such as online Discord members in its tracks.

Telegram

A public channel or group has a short link in the form t.me/username, which is the safest link to use. Private invite links work differently: if an admin revokes one, it stops working immediately. If you’re still deciding what to grow, see Telegram channels vs groups.

  • A private account. If the profile or post isn’t public, nobody outside your followers can reach it, and delivery can’t either. It has to stay public until the order is complete.
  • The wrong type of link. A profile link for a likes order, or a post link for a followers order, sends delivery to the wrong place.
  • Link-in-bio pages and third-party shorteners. These point to a landing page, not your profile. Use the platform’s own address.
  • Short links from the app itself. Some apps copy a shortened version of the link. These usually redirect correctly, but if you’re unsure, open it in a browser and copy the full address it lands on.
  • Extra tracking text. Many share links add characters after a question mark. They are normally harmless, but the clean link before the question mark is fine too.
  • Changing the username or deleting the post after you order, which breaks the link.

If an order hasn’t moved, a link problem is the first thing to check; our guide to why an order hasn’t started covers the other causes.

  1. Paste the link into a private or incognito browser window, where you are logged out.
  2. Make sure it opens the right profile, post or video, even if the platform asks you to log in to see more.
  3. Check the username is spelled correctly and the content is visible, not marked private or unavailable.
  4. Paste exactly that link into your order.

This takes seconds and avoids the one problem that can’t be fixed later: under our refund policy, an order sent to a wrong link can’t be refunded once delivery has started. If you’re ordering for a client or a friend, the same steps apply, and our guide on ordering for someone else covers the rest.

Frequently asked questions

Can I copy a profile link without the app?

Yes. On most platforms you can open the profile in a web browser and copy the address bar, or type the platform’s address followed by the username, such as instagram.com/username or twitch.tv/username.

Is a YouTube Shorts link a video link?

Yes. A Short has its own link, which you copy with the Share button just like a normal video. Use it for views or likes on that Short, and your channel link for subscribers.

What should I do if I changed my username after ordering?

Contact support with your order number and the new link straight away. Delivery follows the link you entered, so an old username may no longer point to your account.

Do I need to include https:// at the start?

Pasting the full link exactly as the app or browser copies it is the safest option. That way nothing is lost or mistyped.
